Silvia Fendi‘s fall collection for her namesake fashion house was relaxed and playful, with a sophisticated execution.
The collection was designed to be comfortable and cocooning, while also evoking the character of a 1970s creature of the night, with a balance of masculine and feminine elements. The collection included references to disco, such as the shimmering facets of a disco ball and the one-shouldered mid-length shape of an archetypal ’70s disco dress.
Other elements included cashmere knits with in-built collars for formality, and trompe l’oeil touches like pale shearlings sprayed with dark paint to resemble long-worn leathers.
There were also bags designed to look like baguettes (the bread), and new hardware in the form of a cascading cluster of Fs, meant to symbolize the quintet of daughters (Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla and Adda) of the house founder Eduardo Fendi.
