The sound of rap music blaring from the speakers filled the air, smoke rising from the floor. The excitement in the room was palpable, as gamblers eagerly watched the performance by The Beatsnuts, a popular underground rap band from Queens. Meanwhile, the Enfants Riches Déprimés Fall 2023 latest collection from LA-based designer Henry Levy was showcasing on the runway.
This season, Levy transports us to a different world, a time capsule of textures, cultural references, and a love for leather. The designer’s interpretation of a “new world order” was on full display, a hybrid fusion of underground subculture and wealthy extravagance. The looks were bold and unapologetic, with a punk-inspired aesthetic that was both elitist and subversive.
The runway was filled with energetic teenage models, who seemed to embody the spirit of the collection. The looks were straight out of a rave, with leather accents, military-inspired cuts, and monochromatic patterns. One standout piece was an oversized red suit, accessorized with trinkets and medals, that demystified the traditional army uniform. The audience was in awe, with many expressing their admiration for the designer’s vision.
Enfants Riches Déprimés continues to break down gender barriers and challenge societal norms. This season, the collection was unisex, with platform heels for everyone, cutting short gender stereotypes and allowing individuals to express their individuality. The designer’s message was clear: everyone deserves the right to express themselves, regardless of gender or background.
