DIOR has just revealed, on the occasion of the Gran Turismo World Series 2022 World Finals that took place from November 24 to 27 in Monaco, the behind-the-scenes (physical) creation of its racing suit for the famous Gran Turismo car racing simulation game.
Teased last August with a De Tomaso Mangusta customized in the colors of the haute couture house, the original digital design was created for Gran Turismo 7 by Kim Jones, marking the brand’s first foray into the world of video games.
Inspired by the codes of the house and those of motorsport, the fully quilted suit is covered with graphic lines of cannage, made with the “Panino a Panino” process giving the patterns a very nice relief, and the famous Dior Oblique pattern in tone on tone, at the chest. On the front and back of the outfit, embroidery and patches representing the CD Diamond and the year 47, in tribute to the first DIOR fashion show, which marked forever the entry of the brand in fashion history. These two symbols are also present on the gloves, the hand-painted helmet and on the Diorizon sneakers, revisited to make a nod to the rally shoes.
