The famous racing simulation game Gran Turismo celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. An exceptional anniversary that the franchise wants to celebrate with pomp and circumstance with DIOR which was invited to create new skins and customize a De Tomaso Mangusta in the colors of the haute couture house.
Since his appointment as creative director of DIOR, Kim Jones multiplies the collaborations with fashion houses, designers and artists from different backgrounds. This time, the English designer has taken a new step, offering himself a foray into the world of video games, or more precisely into the world of the new opus of Gran Turismo, a game launched in 1997 by the studio Polyphony Digital, a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.
Kim Jones signed a collection of racing clothes for Gran Turismo 7, consisting of a yellow and gray suit, matching gloves, Diorizon shoes reinterpreted for the occasion, and a blue and gray helmet. In addition to the DIOR oblique motifs, the CD Diamond initials and the “Christian Dior Atelier Avenue Montaigne” patch, a special number 47 has been incorporated into the whole of this DIOR’s first virtual capsule, in homage to the date of Christian Dior’s first fashion show in 1947, which forever marked the brand’s entry into fashion history. The number 47 is also featured on the De Tomaso Mangusta, which has been customised by Kim Jones as part of the partnership.
Gran Turismo 7 is now available on PlayStation 4 and PS5, while the DIOR collection will be available for download from August 25.
