The celebrations for the Year of the Water Rabbit continue with the announcement of a capsule collection by the designer Glenn Martens for the Italian denim brand Diesel.
After a catastrophic year of the Water Tiger in many fields, part of the world will welcome the Water Rabbit from January 22, a new year that promises to be more optimistic since the combination of the Rabbit, which symbolizes prosperity and peace, and the element Water, which has a very good capacity for adaptation and represents wealth in Chinese culture, promises a year of hope.
Diesel creative director Glenn Martens has come up with a capsule collection of denim, ready-to-wear and accessories, revisiting some of the brand’s iconic pieces in auspicious shades of red and gold accents – the traditional colors of the Lunar New Year symbolizing good fortune, happiness and wealth.
Highlights include a sleeveless denim trucker jacket, straight-leg jeans and a denim shirt dress in a dark red wash. Sewn inside each denim piece is a special edition Diesel jacron label printed with the words “S.E. Year of the Rabbit For Successful Living”. A hoodie, sweatpants and T-shirt from the Track Denim collection, as well as a baseball cap, socks and boxers are also treated with the dark red wash. Finally, new versions of the 1DR bag are released in bold metallic red with a gold oval D logo.
