With his Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Dhruv Kapoor takes us on a journey into the intricate and spiritual universe of Dolores Cannon’s hypnotherapy. The collection further solidifies Kapoor’s reputation for creating fashion that is just as business-savvy as it is unconventional.
Fusing the borderless contours of gender fluidity, with a fresh nod to sustainability, Kapoor’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection is not just a clothing line – it’s a statement.
The latest collection demonstrates Kapoor’s fine-tuning of his signature styles, presenting a leaner, sharper, and more refined range than his previous work. He has cast away the excesses, focussing on the design elements that have won him worldwide acclaim. Testament to his commitment to sustainability, Kapoor has ensured that upcycled fabrics make up an impressive 40 percent of the collection, marrying aesthetic excellence with eco-consciousness.
Kapoor’s 2024 collection is a striking equilibrium between the casual comfort of streetwear and the sophistication of sartorial wear. The catwalk saw an array of denim cargo pants and oversized jackets for all genders, quilted parkas and vests draped in dark camouflage motifs, and mixed-media tracksuits. Dhruv Kapoor’s inventive tailoring is highlighted by narrow pants accompanied by detachable pleated overskirts. These dapper pieces, particularly in the men’s section, perfectly complemented boxy blazers and bowling shirts adorned with retro-futuristic prints, a nod to the nostalgia of 1980s sci-fi movie posters.
Kapoor’s fondness for naïf floral patterns was also evident in the collection, adding a soft touch to his distinctively bold pieces. The hand-drawn or sequin- and rhinestone-embellished patterns were showcased on short-sleeved shirts, pajama sets, tunic-like shirts for women, and even hoodies and blazers, ensuring a floral infusion in every category.
To conclude his show, Dhruv Kapoor displayed two radiant, fully-sequined ensembles. These pieces were a proud celebration of Indian craftsmanship, encapsulating the spirit of his homeland within the global fashion landscape.
