Although it’s very new to the streetwear scene, Detroit-based retailer Two 18, with the support of its sister store Burn Rubber, has already had the honor of revisiting the Air Jordan 2 Low.
Of all the retro silhouettes in Jordan Brand’s repertoire, the Air Jordan 2 is the one that has had the busiest year as it has had several collaborative iterations, including with Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin, A Ma Maniére and Maison Château Rouge. The latest brand to join the list is Two 18, which chose to dress it up with an earthy, autumnal palette.
Designed as a true love letter to the retailer’s hometown of Detroit, the sneaker features a premium suede base combining a light brown towards the front and darker towards the back. Other materials make an entrance here as well, such as smooth leather on the lining and TPU on the heel. All these various materials bring out a very interesting play of different textures: smooth in some places, reptilian or velvety in others.
Thin blue and red stripes line the side panels, likely a subtle nod to the Detroit Pistons, while the eyelets have been remixed with a golden yellow marbled effect. In addition, the pair includes a number of rather interesting details, such as the embossed leather hangtag, series of numbers “19-22,512” and “14-19,306” printed on the laces, sewn-in labels on the inner tabs – stamped with the Two 18 logo on the right one while the left one is stamped with “THROUGH IT ALL”, accompanied by a series of additional numbers.
Insoles printed with an enlarged map of Detroit and special packaging come with the design.
This Two 18 x Air Jordan 2 Low is expected to be released very soon via SNKRS, Two 18 and select retailers for around 200$ USD.
