With a one-minute of silence and an all-black morning suit rendered in British wool and worn with a singular armband, Daniel W. Fletcher kicked off London Fashion Week, paying a heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
While his Fall/Winter 2022 collection “Before the Morning Comes” already paid tribute to his late father, this new season, called “Stand and Deliver,” was again dedicated to his father, as well as three of his close friends Ganky, Alice and Banks, who all passed away last year.
Underneath the overall dark tone of the collection, set in the ballroom of the Londoner Hotel in the heart of central London, Fletcher was inspired by “King’s Road punks, the late-night characters of Soho,” characters – past and present – who have made London what it is. “I’ve lived in London for 10 years now and I was really thinking about the people who’ve made the city what it is today,” Fletcher said.
Dubbed Fletcher’s “most sustainable collection to date,” according to the press release, “Stand and Deliver” was made with unsold fabrics from Nona Source, a used fabric resale platform from LVMH brands and backed by the French luxury giant.
