September always carries a whiff of anticipation for fashion aficionados, and this year was no different. The iconic brand COS recently took the stage at the New York Fashion Week to unveil its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, offering a masterful blend of tradition and innovation that artfully explores contrasts and evolves archetypes. Setting the scene at the Classic Car Club in Manhattan, the brand showcased 43 looks against a backdrop of the Hudson River and a setting sun, embodying a collection that is both powerful and elegant.
Amidst the iridescent glow of metallic sculptural shapes and the deep brown hues of the runway, models exuded serenity and confidence in pieces that epitomized timeless quality. COS, known for its uncompromising commitment to quality, ensured that the collection offered versatile outfits suitable for both day and night. From refined tailored trousers to rethought vests and structured shoulders, every element was meticulously designed to elongate silhouettes and display a bold bias. Maxi-lengths in fluid silk, oversized fringed scarves, hoods, and other versatile knit pieces seamlessly transitioned from day to night, showcasing the brand’s ability to combine utility with beauty.
Notably, the event marked the launch of the COS Atelier Fall/Winter 2023 collection, the third capsule of its kind. This capsule collection showcased a complex hand-crocheted look made of Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS) mohair, accompanied by a wool jacket adorned with delicate fine leather tassels created from fabric scraps. It was a testament to COS’s commitment to innovation while remaining anchored in craftsmanship.
The color palette of this season drew inspiration from nature, featuring soothing neutral tones that accentuated rich earthy browns and custom prints. Matte textures juxtaposed with metallic reflections highlighted the brand’s focus on quality and longevity. Adjustable and reversible pieces added versatility, ensuring each garment served a purpose. The exploration of textures, ranging from soft leather to thick knit and chevron, elevated everyday pieces to new heights. Additionally, over 92% of the collection was made from more sustainable sources, including high-quality knits made from recycled and GCS-certified cashmere, reaffirming the brand’s dedication to sustainability.
Currently, a selection of pieces from the collection is available in COS stores and on cos.com, with limited quantities to be made available throughout the season. The COS Atelier collection will be available starting in October.
