Converse has teamed up with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design to breathe new life into the legendary Converse Weapon model.

This collaboration combines Fujiwara’s minimalist yet colorful design language with the classic silhouette, creating a fresh take on an iconic piece of sneaker history.

The Converse Weapon first made its mark on the basketball court in 1986, and despite only being available for two years, it managed to unite teams, games, and individuals who shared a love for the culture. This sense of community has continued to thrive, with Converse being deeply rooted in disciplines such as sports (particularly basketball), music, and art. By revisiting the Weapon model, Converse aims to enable future generations of creatives to discover and embrace the legacy of this iconic sneaker.

Hiroshi Fujiwara, the creative director of fragment, was the perfect partner for this collaboration, given his pioneering role in streetwear. When discussing the project, he stated, “I was looking for a pair to collaborate with Converse on, and I immediately thought the Weapon would be the right one for me. It’s a classic pair that I used to wear in my childhood.” Fujiwara’s connection to the Converse Weapon made him uniquely suited to design a new version that paid homage to the original while infusing it with his signature style.

The Converse Weapon x fragment collaboration showcases a minimalist approach that highlights the classic sports royal blue and black color scheme. The sneaker features a full leather upper, with contrasting colors adorning the Y bar, collar layer, Converse Chevron logo underlay, and toe area. The FRGMNT logo design is embossed on the lateral heel, while the braided leather tongue bears the original Converse Weapon label and is complemented by a sponge fabric lining.

To further celebrate the collaboration, a complementary clothing capsule accompanies the release. This collection includes a wool varsity jacket, a French terry hoodie, and two loose-fitting jersey t-shirts, all in line with fragment’s intention to inspire sport.
