LG is taking advantage of CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2023 to present its latest range of OLED TV models, including the G3 OLED evo 4 K, which will see its brightness increase by up to 70%.
The new range of OLED TVs – whose prices are likely to be very high – includes several models: A3, B3, C3, G3 and Z3, the most notable of which are the C3, the successor to the C2, best high-end TV for the money, and the G3, which, according to the manufacturer, promises significantly improved brightness.
Thus, on the latter model, thanks to its Brightness Booster Max technology, the brightness will increase up to 70%, compared to last year’s G2, on the 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes.
The G3 OLED evo will also look much better when wall-mounted. Its design hugs the wall even more closely than before, thanks to its new “ultra-seamless” One Wall Design approach, leaving no visible gaps between the wall and the TV. Other improvements include a redesign of webOS, the HDMI 2.1 QMS port, and the new 6th generation A9 AI processor (image and sound enhancement with AI-assisted deep learning, increased upscaling, virtualized 9.1.2 surround sound using AI Sound Pro, as well as AI Picture Pro recognition of people’s faces and objects to improve HDR quality) that it does share with other models in the lineup, though. For the rest, no major change.
Regarding the other models in the range: the Z3, the manufacturer’s range of 8K TVs, is also brighter than before, in the order of 30-40%, while the C3 and B3 remain unchanged from last year’s C2 and B2 in terms of brightness.
LG also says its 2023 OLED TVs will be the first to be certified by the HDMI organization for Quick Media Switching VRR (QMS-VRR) – a feature normally used for gaming – which “can eliminate the momentary ‘black screen’ that sometimes occurs when switching between content played from different source devices connected via the TV’s HDMI 2.1a compliant ports.”
Finally, LG’s new 2023 OLED TVs aim to be environmentally friendly. Since they don’t have a backlight unit, they require less material than LED TVs. Made with recycled plastics, they will be delivered in eco-packages made of recyclable materials with a monochrome printing.
