Bruno Sialelli exits Lanvin

As the renowned French fashion house Lanvin bids farewell to its creative director Bruno Sialelli, it is set to embark on a groundbreaking new creative journey.

With the establishment of Lanvin Lab and an increased focus on leather goods and accessories, the brand aims to situate itself at the forefront of fashion and culture during a time of extraordinary change.

After four years at the helm of Lanvin, creative director Bruno Sialelli is parting ways with the brand. The departure of Sialelli marks a significant shift in the brand’s creative direction, as it sets its sights on a new era of innovation with the introduction of Lanvin Lab. This unique initiative will bring together both established and emerging international talents for creative collaborations, with the first guest talent expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Lanvin Lab will serve as an incubator for fresh ideas and concepts, working alongside the house’s main product lines. In addition to this, the brand is assembling a dedicated creative team and “industrial support” to bolster its leather goods and accessories division, which currently accounts for more than half of Lanvin’s global business and is seen as a key driver for future growth.

The brand will continue to showcase its ready-to-wear collections for men and women during Paris Fashion Week. Siddhartha Shukla, Lanvin’s deputy general manager, said in a statement to WWD: “Lanvin is poised for a new chapter. As we reimagine the brand, embracing the values instilled in it by Jeanne Lanvin over 130 years ago, we situate the house at the vanguard of fashion and culture at a time of extraordinary and inspiring change.

Sialelli’s tenure at Lanvin saw several transformations, including a visual reset of the brand’s logo, two black-and-white Steven Meisel campaigns, and a comprehensive overhaul of its product strategy. His final collection for the brand, Fall 2023, showcased an understated yet sophisticated approach, with a focus on elevated everyday dressing, tailoring, chemise dresses, and subtle references to Lanvin’s 1920s golden age.

Reflecting on his time at Lanvin, Sialelli expressed his pride in the accomplishments achieved during his tenure and gratitude towards his team: “I am deeply proud of what we have achieved at Lanvin over the past four years and wish to thank Lanvin and my team who, through their unique talents and dedication, have accompanied me in this great adventure.” Sialelli’s next move has yet to be revealed.

Lanvin, now a flagship brand under Lanvin Group (formerly Fosun Fashion Group), reported impressive numbers for 2022, driven primarily by the success of its leather goods and sneakers, such as the popular Curb model. As the brand moves forward, it hopes to further entice younger customers and solidify its position as a leader in the luxury fashion industry.

With the launch of Lanvin Lab and a renewed emphasis on leather goods and accessories, the iconic French fashion house is prepared to write a new chapter in its storied history, embracing the spirit of collaboration and innovation while honoring the legacy of its founder, Jeanne Lanvin.
