The race for speed is on, and adidas is taking the lead with their latest innovation, the adidas ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1. This groundbreaking racing shoe is not only the lightest in the adidas running footwear range but also 40% lighter than any other racing supershoe ever created by the brand. This significant reduction in weight, combined with the latest technology, is set to revolutionize running economy and provide athletes with unprecedented energy return. Patrick Nava, VP Product, Running & Credibility Sports at adidas, described the ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1 as adidas’ “impossible is nothing” story, embodying the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
The ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1 represents the pinnacle of the ADIZERO franchise‘s evolution. It features a revamped geometry, including a first-of-its-kind forefoot rocker placed at 60% of the shoe’s length. This innovative feature is lab-tested to trigger forward momentum and improve running economy, helping ambitious runners achieve even faster speeds on race day.
adidas has also incorporated its latest material innovations into the shoe, including the revolutionized LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam. This newest version of the record-breaking foam is crafted using a non-compression molding process, which not only significantly reduces the shoe’s weight but also provides greater energy return for runners. Additionally, the shoe’s construction has been optimized to reduce weight further, including the removal of the sockliner.
The outsole of the ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1 features new cutting-edge technology that provides optimum traction at a significantly lower weight. Additionally, a new lightweight mesh upper completes the shoe’s lightweight approach.
Throughout the development process, adidas gathered insights from elite athletes during in-camp training and testing in Kenya and at the adidas labs in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Reigning Olympic champion and two-time Major Marathon winner Peres Jepchirchir, two-time Major Marathon winner Benson Kipruto, German national champion Amanal Petros, and last year’s Berlin Marathon winner Tigist Assefa all contributed their valuable insights.
Tigist Assefa expressed her excitement about the shoe, stating, “This is the lightest racing shoe I have ever worn, and the feeling of running in them is an incredible experience – like nothing I’ve felt before. They enable me to put my full focus on the race, which is exactly what you want as an athlete. I feel ready to defend my title in Berlin and can’t wait to lace up at the start line in these.”
The ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1 features a minimalist design with translucent and see-through materials, acting as a metaphor for its lightness. Ambitious runners will have the opportunity to sign up from September 14th for the chance to get their hands on a limited number of pairs, with a second drop to follow in November 2023. The shoe will be priced at $500/€500.
