When one thinks of enduring fashion legends, Karl Lagerfeld instantly comes to mind, and when the art of meticulous ceramics is under discussion, the name bosa naturally follows. Seamlessly blending these two seemingly disparate worlds, we’re treated to a new chapter in design iconography. This month marks an anticipated debut of the KARL LAGERFELD x bosa collection, a ceramic homage to the indelible mark Lagerfeld left on the fashion landscape.
Set to hit the stores on Karl Lagerfeld’s birthday, September 10th, with an exclusive unveiling three days prior, this collaboration paints a portrait of Lagerfeld’s lasting legacy. From the bustling streets of Paris to the iconic storefronts of Milan, select bosa retailers will house this exclusive collection.
Two ceramic statues take center stage in this collaboration, each a testament to Karl Lagerfeld’s recognizable sartorial choices. The POP KARL, tinged with whimsical humor, becomes a vibrant canvas under the touch of designer Elena Salmistraro. But it’s not all vibrant bursts and spirited representation; Nika Zupanc’s ROCK KARL takes a step back, opting for the more classic shades reminiscent of Karl’s wardrobe. Yet, a hint of color plays at the collar, with fingerless gloves in a brushed gold hue, encapsulating his signature look in 41 cm by 18 cm.
“The ability to remain both iconic and relevant is no small feat. Both Karl Lagerfeld and bosa symbolize this with finesse,” remarked a design critic.
Venturing into the digital, KARL LAGERFELD’s NFT venture evolves with two limited-edition assets. Drawing inspiration from the POP KARL sculpture, these digital tokens pay homage to the late Artistic Director of Chanel and FENDI‘s larger-than-life persona, with a partnership with DEMATERIALISED paving the way for both limited and ultra-exclusive offerings. And for those collectors with a penchant for the tactile, some tokens promise a tangible figurine as a counterpart.
KARL LAGERFELD’s choice to collaborate with bosa stems from mutual respect. With roots embedded deep in the Venetian countryside, bosa boasts decades of impeccable craftsmanship, transforming clay into art since 1976. Their commitment to quality resonates in each piece, ensuring that they remain not just recognizable, but timeless. Through innovative designs and meticulous finishes, the brand has championed design challenges, collaborating with iconic designers and businesses.
Fashion might be an ever-evolving entity, but certain legacies, like that of Karl Lagerfeld, stand firm against the tide of time. And when paired with bosa’s unwavering dedication to craft, we witness a tribute fitting for a king. This collaboration serves as a testament that when two giants from different realms come together, magic is bound to happen.
Both sculptures will be revealed and available for sale during a special pre-launch on September 7th in the KARL LAGERFELD flagship Paris store and exclusively on KARL.com.
