Boston-based boutique Bodega and New Balance have been loyal partners for many years. Their collaboration has resulted in countless collaborative designs, the latest of which is this Bodega x New Balance 9060 “Age Of Discovery”.
Dubbed the “Age of Discovery,” the silhouette is said to “blend yesterday’s artifacts and tomorrow’s vision into a sneaker of today, chalk full of revelations.”
As the name suggests, this Bodega x New Balance 9060 takes us back to the early modern period, when European powers like Portugal and Spain began to conquer the world. Coinciding with the Renaissance, the Age of Discovery (also known as the Age of Exploration) began in the mid-15th century, with expeditions taking place until the 1600s. It is these voyages and discoveries of new lands that likely inspire this silhouette, with its lush blue suede and mesh, resembling the color of the oceans.
Other details include ABZORB and SBS equipped soles, co-branded insoles, an extra set of laces, and a custom blue box featuring illustrations of mythological characters on both the exterior and interior.
