Bianca Saunders showcased her latest collection inspired by the comedy sketches of Jamaica’s famous funny man Oliver Samuels.
The set of her show featured a mini bar, easy chair, tables with flowers, and lace curtains, creating a lounge-like atmosphere that blended with the raw industrial space of the catwalk. The collection had a laid-back feel and a gentle color palette. Saunders wanted the collection to have a makeshift and spontaneous feel, reminiscent of Samuels’ skits. The clothing line included tailored suits, coats, denim with raw edges, breezy silhouettes fit for a seaside holiday, loose-fitting knit tops and trousers, and pajama suits with psychedelic wave patterns.
Saunders’ incorporation of a bar and lounge setting also added to the laid-back and relaxed vibe of the collection, making it not only a fashion show but also a lively and entertaining experience. Although some might find the folds and other jacket details too fussy, and the psychedelic patterns dizzying, this collection was one of Saunders’ sharpest yet. It was lighthearted and full of old-fashioned fun, capturing the essence of Oliver Samuels’ comedy in a unique and stylish way.
