Arnold & Son unveiled, at the last Watches and Wonders 2023, its exquisite Arnold & Son Globetrotter Platinum, a limited edition timepiece that celebrates the spirit of 18th-century explorers. This masterpiece fuses history and modernity with its meticulous design and precious materials, making it a remarkable piece of horological art.
A nod to the explorers of the past
The Globetrotter Platinum is a tribute to 18th-century explorers who voyaged across the globe with the aid of John Arnold’s chronometers. Clad in 950 platinum, the timepiece evokes the color gray and pays homage to the courageous adventurers who expanded our understanding of the world.
The intricate design of the Globetrotter Platinum
At the heart of the Globetrotter Platinum is a central globe portraying the northern hemisphere. This intricate design is supported by an 18-carat gold bridge, polished and satin-finished to perfection. The taut-lined arc, a visual signature of the Globetrotter, houses a functional jewel at its center, marking the axis of universal time.
For the first time, Arnold & Son crafts the 45mm diameter case of the Globetrotter in 950 platinum, the most prestigious metal used in watchmaking.

The lower part of the dial, which displays a world map, is fashioned from mother-of-pearl tinted in graduated shades of blue. The universal hour ring is constructed from transparent sapphire crystal, allowing for easy reading of local and world times.
A masterful display of craftsmanship
The 18-carat gold transverse bridge that supports the globe is a testament to Arnold & Son’s dedication to precision and craftsmanship. This exquisite piece is polished, satin-finished, and chamfered, exemplifying the high standards applied to all components of the brand’s movements.
Sculpted hemisphere: A luxurious presence
The 45mm case of the Globetrotter Platinum, made from 950 platinum, exudes luxury and power. The globe features a wealth of detail, including mountain ranges highlighted by a matte finish and oceans enriched with powdered mother-of-pearl, which lend depth and radiance. Coastlines, painted in a lighter shade of blue and enriched with Super-LumiNova, glow in the dark, accentuating the relief of this hand-crafted artwork.
A showcase of fine watchmaking finishes
Equipped with the in-house A&S6022 automatic movement, the Globetrotter Platinum exemplifies Arnold & Son’s commitment to fine watchmaking. The 22-carat gold oscillating weight is adorned with a skeletonized ‘Clous de Paris’ guilloché motif. The A&S6022 movement features a variety of traditional decorations, such as circular-grained main plate, Côtes de Genève stripes, satin-finished wheels, and polished chamfered screws. The NAC finish, a high-quality anthracite plating, complements the 950 platinum case in both color and character.
Limited to only 28 pieces worldwide, the Arnold & Son Globetrotter Platinum is priced at €64,900, or $70,800 USD. This exceptional timepiece is a fitting tribute to the explorers of yesteryear, encapsulating the spirit of discovery in a modern, luxurious design.
