adidas Originals and Craig Green have once again joined forces to redefine the iconic Stan Smith shoe, presenting two innovative takes: the CG BOOST STAN and the CG SPLIT STAN. With a progressive approach, these new silhouettes reimagine the Trefoil’s distinctive DNA, bridging adidas’ past, present, and future.
In the CG SPLIT STAN, Craig Green disrupts the well-known adidas icon by slicing the familiar form in half and inserting a middle rubber protrusion between the two segments. This audacious design pushes the leather and rubber sneaker to new extremes and will be available in three monochromatic colorways: white, black, and khaki.
On the other hand, the CG BOOST STAN rethinks footwear tooling by featuring a die-cut upper seated atop a midsole and foxing entirely composed of BOOST material. This design is complemented by Three Stripe perforations, printed Stan Smith logos on the tongue, and printed Trefoil branding on the heel mustache, reminiscent of the original silhouette. The CG BOOST STAN will launch in three colorways: white, black, and silver.
A collaborative campaign with long-time partner Dan Tobin Smith celebrates each shoe’s design by exploring the CG BOOST STAN’s textural quality and oscillating between mirrored surfaces to highlight the dynamic lines of the CG SPLIT STAN.
London-born designer Craig Green is renowned for the ingenuity, functionality, and freedom of expression in his work. Since founding his label in 2012, after graduating from the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, Green’s design principles have remained rooted in the beauty and humility of functional clothing. Utilizing signature pieces, such as the worker’s jacket, as a starting point for ideas that connect with deeply rooted emotions, Green’s collections have earned a permanent place in the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Additionally, Green has received the British Menswear Designer award at the Fashion Awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
