adidas has expanded its acclaimed ADIZERO franchise with the introduction of the ADIZERO BOSTON 12 and ADIZERO ADIOS 8.
These innovative additions are set to revolutionize the running experience, offering a blend of speed, comfort, and performance that caters to the diverse needs of the global running community.
The ADIZERO BOSTON 12, a product of extensive testing and collaboration with adidas‘ professional athletes, is designed to simulate the thrill of race day during training runs. The shoe’s development involved 19 testing sessions with elite runners in Kenya, including Peres Jepchirchir, Abel Kipchumba, and Angela Tanui. Their valuable insights have been instrumental in shaping a shoe that meets the high expectations of ambitious runners worldwide.
Charlotte Heidmann, Senior Global Product Manager, Running Footwear at adidas, emphasized the importance of athlete feedback in the development process. She stated, “Our latest round of athlete testing led to the ADIZERO BOSTON 12 becoming an even more powerful partner for speedwork and tempo runs.”
The ADIZERO BOSTON 12 boasts an array of technological enhancements. The shoe features an engineered mesh for a breathable fit, ENERGY RODS 2.0 for high-performance midsole stiffness, and a layered midsole construction of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO and LIGHTSTRIKE 2.0. This combination offers a cushioned and dynamic ride, while the Continental™ outsole ensures superior grip under demanding conditions. Notably, the shoe is made with at least 50% recycled materials in the upper, reflecting adidas’ commitment to ending plastic waste.
Complementing the ADIZERO BOSTON 12 is the ADIZERO ADIOS 8, a racing all-rounder that promises a direct and snappy feeling during races and speed workouts. The ADIZERO ADIOS 8 is lighter and softer than its predecessors, making it an ideal choice for race day. It features a lightweight mesh upper, an updated ENERGYTORSION ROD 2.0, and a low-stack midsole construction of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO and LIGHTSTRIKE 2.0. Like the BOSTON 12, the ADIOS 8 is also made with at least 50% recycled materials in the upper.
Peres Jepchirchir, the reigning Olympic Champion and two-time world major marathon winner, expressed her satisfaction with the ADIZERO BOSTON 12. She said, “Testing the new ADIZERO BOSTON 12 was a great experience – they were really put through their paces!”
The ADIZERO BOSTON 12 and ADIZERO ADIOS 8 will be available globally from June 15, 2023, via the Adidas app, online, and in stores.
